THE INDESTRUCTIBLE TRUTH
I have in my library a book written by Balthaisar Hubmaier. He was an old Anabaptist preacher in Waldshut, Germany in the early 1500’s. That was just prior to the time of John Calvin.
I mention the good brother, because of the way he closed most every chapter of his book. He closed chapter after chapter with the words “Truth is indestructible.” His comment suggests the title for this little study. He kept saying it over and over—“Truth is indestructible.”
He fully expected that his tormentors would soon do away with him—but he took great comfort in the thought they could not do away with the truth he preached. He had been a well-known Roman Catholic priest until he was baptized in 1525. He was only with the Anabaptists for three years. The Catholic authorities finally tracked him down and burned him at the stake in the year 1528.
In that age of darkness, when the Roman Catholic Church held all of Europe in its grip, that old Anabaptist preacher preached essentially the same doctrines that are dear to our Primitive Baptists in this day.
In America we have gone through a period of over two hundred years with virtually no persecution of Christians. We have been able to worship God without fear of being hindered. That time is rapidly coming to an end. From every direction we see resistance and hostility to the Christian religion.
Thirty years ago the Swiss theologian, Frances Shaeffer, began to refer to our day as The Post Christian Era. By that he meant that the Christian religion is no longer the force it once was. Christian principles no longer shape our national thinking the way they once did. If there were those in Shaeffer’s day who questioned his statement, there are fewer and fewer who would challenge him today.
AN UNPRECEDENTED
ASSAULT ON THE TRUTH
There are people in positions of great power who oppose the Christian religion at every turn. They are determined to wipe the Lord’s church off the face of the earth. But God will never allow it to happen. Those who believe and preach the truth have always been in the minority—but they have always survived. Truth is indeed indestructible. David tells us:
Psa. 12:6,7, “The words of the Lord are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.”
God will preserve his word; he will have a people preaching his gospel when he comes again in the clouds of heaven. But, nonetheless, the Christian religion is coming under greater and greater attack every year. Antichristian organizations such as the Zionist inspired and controlled ACLU, are becoming more and more strident in their attacks on Christians.
The ACLU calls itself the American Civil Liberties Union, but they are interested in everything but civil liberty. Like their predecessors, who tormented and finally crucified our Lord, they hate his church with a passion, and with their powerful financial backing they are doing everything they can to destroy the Christian religion. But you can be sure, God will preserve his people. He will win in the end.
God is omnipotent and omnipresent; Satan is not. God will triumph; Satan will not. But while Satan is neither omnipotent nor omnipresent, he tries to make up for it by putting together his thousand and one activist organizations and governmental agencies to do his work for him. He cannot be everywhere at the same time; so he spreads out his proxies as far as he can, and he inserts them in as important and powerful positions as he can. With their help he is able to attack the Lord’s people from more directions, and in more ways, than we have ever been attacked before.
If much that is going on does not make sense, it might help to keep in mind that many of those people making the news are, consciously or unconsciously, doing Satan’s bidding. That is why we are seeing more and more vicious attacks against the Bible, against Christians, and against a Bible based morality.
John called them antichrists, and he said there were many of them in his day (1 John 2:18). That has not changed They were here then; they are here now. Everywhere we turn we see them at work. They are running rampant in our educational system. Christian students are constantly being harassed.
We regularly hear reports of university students being denied advanced degrees unless they embrace evolution. Sometimes the students have appealed the decision, and the university administration has endorsed the refusal to grant the degree, or sometimes to be admitted to a graduate program.
We hear of children being forbidden to read their Bibles during lunch break at school, and others being sent to detention and given failing grades for drawing pictures with a Christian theme. We hear of children being ordered by their teachers to remove jewelry which displayed a Christian theme, even though jewelry with an occult or antichristian theme is permitted. We read of students being required to write themes embracing Islam, or being required to act out skits promoting Islam.
We read of children being required to read books arguing for a homosexual lifestyle. We hear of homosexual advocates being invited to come into schools and present their argument to the children, without anyone being allowed to present the contrary point of view. Sometimes homosexual activists have been allowed to put on the most immoral and indecent skits in connection with their presentations.
The Amite School District in Louisiana placed stickers in the front of their science textbooks indicating that evolution is only one theory of the origin of life. It encouraged students to study the various theories and decide for themselves which they believed. The ACLU sued the school district. They insisted the school district had no authority to tell students they had the right to examine theories contradicting evolution and make up their own minds.
These antichristian activists have made a shambles of our judicial system. We read of a man who beat an old woman with an axe handle, when she refused to give him her little social security check. The judge threw out his conviction, because the prosecuting attorney quoted a Bible verse in his summation to the jury.
Several volumes could be filled with such reports. What is beyond all question is that the Christian religion is under attack as it never has been before—not in America. Some of the richest men in the world are using their vast wealth to attack and undermine the moral underpinnings of this nation.
Our Dispensationalist friends tell us antichrist does not exist— not yet—but someday he will come and when he does come, he will do all the things we have been talking about. He will be Satan’s vice-regent on earth. They expect that he will be evil incarnate, and he will do all within his power to bring the world under the power of Satan. They seem to turn a blind eye to what these many antichrists have been doing for the last two thousand years, and they assure us this future antichrist will wrap up his work in seven years.
But the Dispensationalists are wrong. By denying the work of these many antichrists, they are unwittingly drawing our attention away from all that is going on at this very time.
While all this is new for America, it has been going on in other parts of the world since the days of Christ and the apostles. It is no accident that we are seeing such an all out war against Christians in all parts of the world.
The news media talks about what they call Moderate Islam. There can be no doubt there are moderate Muslims—honest, decent people who grew up and are trapped in that wicked system. We cannot help but feel sympathy for them. None of us can take credit for the fact we were born into a free society. But while there are, without doubt, moderate Muslims, there is no such thing as Moderate Islam. Islam is by its very nature extremist—the Jihadists are the true Muslims.
Islam has always been an antichristian system and Muslim Jihadists have been slaughtering Christians since Mohammed’s day in the seventh century. He built the system by the sword. Converts were given the choice, they could join his army, robbing, raping, killing and gaining new converts—or they could have their heads chopped off. With the headsman standing in sight, it is little wonder Mohammed gained converts.
We are told that Islam is a religion of peace, but you cannot study the life of Mohammed without coming to the conclusion that, if he were alive today, he would scold the Jihadists for being so polite.
The Roman Catholic Church tortured and killed their own millions during the thousand years they dominated Europe. They burned Christians at the stake. They boiled them in oil. They put them on the rack, and stretched their arms and legs until they pulled them out of joint. They left them crippled for life. They sewed them up in burlap sacks with scorpions. They were geniuses at dreaming up new ways of inflicting pain.
The Communists slaughtered and starved more than sixty million people during the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Mao Tse Tung killed his own tens of millions after he took control of China in 1949. They have been just as brutal in the rest of the world.
America has not been innocent. Our own American abortionists have slaughtered more than fifty million unborn babies—unborn human beings—since our Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.
We are just not used to seeing such an all out campaign against the Christian religion the way it is shaping up in America at this time.
Satan has always been a master of disguise. Paul tells us:
2 Cor. 11:12, For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness ;whose end shall be according to their works.”
You should never get the idea that when Paul refers to Satan’s ministers pretending to be ministers of righteousness that his remark is limited to preachers. No doubt, many of them are preachers; but Satan knows how to disguise his ministers. A minister is simply a servant, and Satan knows how to disguise his servants, his ministers, and to use them in thousands of capacities and thousands of ways.
More than that, he knows where the levers of power are; he knows how to work those levers; and he knows how to put his people in charge of the levers.
One of Satan’s greatest triumphs came in 1913, when Satan and his cohorts literally stole the American economy. If he can control our money, he can control just about everything else.
The antichristian forces at the Federal Reserve pretend it is their job to keep inflation in check and prevent depressions. The truth is just the opposite. It is the Fed that produces both inflation and depressions. Except during the Civil War, there had never been any significant inflation until the Fed produced it.
Check the facts. The Fed was established in 1913. An item that cost $1.00 in 1820 could be bought in 1913 for 63 cents. Prices over the previous century had decreased by 37 percent.
But we have had more than our share of inflation since the Federal Reserve was founded—with its pledge to control inflation. In the last ninety-eight years, the Fed has given us more than 2000% inflation. An item that could be bought in 1913 for $1.00 costs $20 to $30 today.
Of course, that figure varies, depending on how you measure it. For some things it is worse. If you calculate inflation since 1933 by the price of gold, the Fed has given us more than 8,000% inflation. An ounce of gold was worth $20 in 1933. At least that is what Franklin Delano Roosevelt paid for gold when he confiscated it. Today it sells for more than eighty times that much. Just a few months ago it sold for almost 100 times what it brought in 1933. Measured by the price of gold, the Fed has inflated away almost 99 cents out of every dollar in your pocket.
The least estimate anybody makes is that, since 1913, inflation has taken away 95 cents out of every dollar. The Fed is a private corporation; they only call themselves the Federal Reserve to make people think it is part of the government. If they have taken away 95 cents out of every dollar, who do you think has that 95 cents, and considering their hatred for the Christian religion what do you imagine they are doing with the money?
The Fed has several reasons for inflated away the value of our money. The first is simple greed. They stole our money. The other is they have made it impossible for anybody except the very rich to save for their old age. No matter how much money you save, inflation will destroy its value. They are determined to make us dependent on the government for our basic necessities.
But what does all that have to do with anything? It makes this difference. People are much easier to control when they are sick and cold and hungry, and there can be no doubt those men would like to see Americans in distress. Why else are they so determined to bankrupt the country with their outrageous spending. Why else have they plunged us into such debt.
The establishment of America as a free and independent nation was one of the most devastating blows Satan has suffered in the Modern Age—and he is doing everything in his power to destroy this nation. First he must destroy our economy.
His agents have given us a fifteen trillion dollar national debt, and a spineless congress that does not have the will to do anything about it. Satan would like nothing better than to bankrupt our nation, and he is well on his way to doing it.
They are doing the same thing to us their mentors did when they decided to take down Germany, and the rest of Europe, ninety years ago. In 1922 and 1923, it was their antichristian colleagues at the German Reichsbank who forced inflation to such heights that prices were doubling every thirteen hours. They printed money on one side, because they did not have time to allow the ink to dry.
Satan does most of his work in the dark. He only shows himself when he wants to be seen. What you see on the 6:00 o’clock news is only part of what is going on. Those who do the most damage are generally men whose names very nearly nobody knows.
Atheistic Communism has always been the bitterest enemy to the Christian religion; but there is far more to Communism than most people are aware of. When you mention Communism, people immediately think of men like Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, and Mikhail Gorbachev. But those men only represent one aspect of Communism. They represent the political, military, and economic aspect.
When I mention names like Gramski, Lucacs, Adorno, and Marcuse, I always get a lot of blank stares. Those men represent the more philosophical, more clandestine, aspect of Communism. They have done their work under the radar, and they have been far more successful in establishing Communism than those other men ever were.
Communism fell apart in Russia, and over the world in the early 90’s. But it was only the political, military, and economic side of Communism that fell apart. The fall of the U.S.S.R. did not affect the work of men like Gramski, Lucacs, Adorno, and Markuse in the least. Their disciples have more power than ever, and they are still doing their work. They occupy more positions of power than ever.
Those men came to America in the early twentieth century. It was their assignment to take over the news media, the entertainment media, the judicial system, and the educational system in America.
It should not take a lot of illustration to demonstrate that they have done their job well. Marxists dominate all four of those fields, and they are becoming stronger by the day. Those men are all dead, but their disciples are still around; they are doing all within their power to scuttle the Christian religion; and Congress and the courts constantly give them more tools to do their work.
They reign supreme in our school system. Those who founded and still control the National Education Association have never pretended to have any use for the Christian religion. They have made evolution the official religion of our school system, and no dissenting voice is allowed. They teach our children that God is not our creator—we are nothing more than highly evolved animals.
We should not be surprised that so many people have gotten the idea that if God is not our creator, it is none of his business how we behave.
It is worthy of note that when the Communists took over China in 1949, they did not begin immediately to indoctrinate children in the principles of Marxism. The first thing they began to teach was evolution. They were smart enough to know that before Marxism could win the day, they had to convince the next generation that God is not their creator— and therefore he is not their judge.
Here in America, so long as evolution is the official religion of our school systems we need not expect any improvement in the moral climate of our country.
Without realizing what is going on, America is rapidly being assaulted by the most basic principles of the Hindu religion. They would not admit it, and I doubt that many of them actually realize it, but the folks in charge at the EPA (the Environmental Protection Agency) are more of a religious organization than anything else. Just compare the EPA and Hinduism.
Hinduism is the major religion in India. They worship cattle and snakes, and the like. Hinduism is the rawest form of Baal worship. Most everybody is aware of the Hindu worship of those old Brahma cattle, and most everybody remembers Israel’s worship of the Golden Calf in the wilderness. It is strange that so very few people make the connection—they are one and the same.
The Brahma cow is so revered they are allowed to roam at will. If one of them wanders into the market place and makes a shambles of the place, he (or she) is allowed to have his way. After all, who would want to whack his god on the behind. That could have disastrous consequences.
On one occasion, a train was crossing one of those tall, rickety railroad trestles in the middle of the night, when the headlights showed a cow on the tracks. The engineer was horrified; he locked down the brakes, and the train plunged into the ravine below. People were killed, but that was alright, the sacred cow was not harmed.
On another occasion, a cobra made its way into a little textile mill. As you can imagine, the workers evacuated the building—but nobody bothered the snake. A Hindu lady told me recently that they have reverence for the cobra because that is Vishnu’s pet. Who would dare take a shotgun to their god’s pet. Again that could have bad consequences. They just posted monitors to watch the snake to see when it decided to leave, so they could go back to work.
Do you think nothing like that could happen in America? Think again, it is already happening.
The ancient Canaanites worshiped the god Moloch and represented him as a giant owl. In the Pacific Northwest the EPA has put thousands of people in the logging industry out of work, because of their great reverence for the Spotted Owl. Tens of thousands of people are out of work, and their families are suffering, but the Spotted Owl has the run of the forest.
These same people have put more tens of thousands of people out of work in the San Joaquin Valley in California. They are afraid the runoff from farms will endanger the welfare of a little fish called the Delta Smelt. Do you remember the Philistines and Dagon, their fish god. Again, it is alright for people to starve, so long as their little fish god is taken care.
Beautiful homes along the Potomac River are in danger of sliding off into the river, because the EPA will not allow the owners to install rip-rap to protect the shoreline from wave action. They are afraid the rip-rap will disturb a little thing called the Puritan Beetle. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the scarab, their beetle God. The EPA has the Puritan Beetle.
These American Hindus place greater value on birds, and fish, and beetles than they do on human beetles. They protest in the streets for the right to kill their own unborn babies, but they go to just as great lengths to protects bugs and birds. And yet there are those who tell us that antichrist does not exist, but when he does come, he is going to be really bad.
This little booklet does not allow sufficient space for the long list of such examples that could be given, but you read the news; you know what I know; most all of you could provide your own list.
Our Constitution says that “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” and yet in this backdoor way these aspects of this pagan religion have the force of law—and it is contributing greatly to the unemployment problem. It would do far more for our economy than any Stimulus Program, if our government would just quit using the EPA to force this pagan religion on us.
We are never going to see Christians burned at the stake again. The antichrists in Europe and England gave up on burning Christians long ago. The last person to be burned at the stake in England was Edward Wightman in 1611.
The antichristian forces realized that by burning Baptists they were gaining converts— for the Baptists. There is no more convincing testimony a person can give as to the genuineness of his religion than suffering himself to be burned alive, rather than deny what he believes. They burned Baptists alive—and the Baptist numbers only grew.
They will never go back to burning us alive, but they are going to harass us to death in the courts.
Roger Nash Baldwin was the founder of the ACLU, and in keeping with Adam Weishaupt’s principle of keeping levels of separation between the action and the brains behind the action, Rabbi Stephen Wise, and the Zionist Supreme Court Justices Louis Brandeis, and Felix Frankfurter, stayed out of sight— but, they were his most powerful advisers. Realizing the real power behind the ACLU, we can better understand why they are do determined to destroy the Christian religion.
The ACLU was organized for the express purpose of using the courts to drive the Christian religion out of America, and they are dedicated to their work. Subversives are steadily taking over our court system, and they are using the courts to cripple our churches.
The recent eminent domain decision handed down by the Supreme Court is one of the most powerful tools granted to our enemies. Armed with that decision, a hostile city or state government can condemn a church’s property, and transfer title to a private company. They use building codes and zoning ordinances to prevent the church from erecting another meeting place anywhere near the old location, and they can use those same ordinances to prevent the church from inviting members to meet in their own homes. They can reduce the number of churches by allowing only a certain number of churches in an area. It is happening all over the country.
Satan knows how to put his ministers in positions of power. Unelected bureaucrats are running the country, and there seems to be little that can be done about it. Ronald Reagan promised to bring them under control; he could not do it. They have virtually become a government to themselves. Administrations come and go, but the bureaucracy goes on and on. It does not matter which party is in power, the one-world CFR (the Council on Foreign Relations) provides most all of the top level bureaucrats. They have provided every Secretary of State but one since 1948. It is unelected bureaucrats who actually write the laws Congress votes on.
Sometimes the bureaucracy trumps Congress. To give just one example, when the liberals and socialists in Congress were doing all they could to pass what they call Cap-and-Trade, Lacy Jackson, the head of the EPA—an unelected bureaucrat—threatened that if Congress did not pass Cap- and-Trade, she would do it for them; she would simply impose the regulations herself. If the bill becomes law, it will cripple our economy more than it already is. It is stalled for the moment, but nobody in Congress has the courage to demand that she be fired for such an arrogant threat.
We have painted a bleak picture; but the facts are far worse than we are able to tell in these short pages. Volumes could be written without telling how vicious, how determined, and how dangerous, these attacks are.
Satan has always had his many antichrists; and they have always been determined to destroy the Lord’s people and bring an end to his church. Today, more than ever, Satan has his countless activist organizations and governmental agencies to do his work—and they are moving in for the kill. They have their man in the White House; they have a dedicated coalition in the Congress, and they are sure their time has come. But with these thousands of antichrists pulling the levers of power, our Dispensationalist friends bury their heads in the sand, and assure us antichrist is no danger— not yet.
THE OTHER SIDE
OF THE STORY
We have painted a dark picture, but regardless of how it may look at this point, our purpose in putting out this little booklet is not to sound a note of defeat—quite the contrary. In spite of how many forces are arrayed against God and his people, regardless of how many are determined to wipe the gospel from the earth, God will win; he always does. Truth is, indeed indestructible.
Satan has had his many antichrists since the days of the apostles, but, our theme in this book is to show that the forces of evil are going to fail. Regardless of how well organized they are; regardless of how well financed they are, and how many powerful positions they hold, they are going to fail.
For a thousand years, all through the Dark Ages, the Lord’s people were convinced the Roman Catholic Church and the Papacy were the antichrist. They were right; but antichrist has never been limited to the Catholic Church.
The Inquisiton claimed its millions, but Islam is just as antichristian as the Papacy ever was. They have killed their own millions. Communism has killed its tens of millions in Russia, and more tens of millions in China. There is nothing any future antichrist can accomplish in seven years that all these past and present antichrists have not already done many times over. Their two thousand year record of torturing, dismembering, and murdering the saints dwarfs anything any future antichrist could accomplish in seven short years.
And yet the truth lives on—the Lord’s church lives on.
God has a church in the world. Ever since he set up his church two thousand years ago, he has had a church in the world. And he will have a church in the world when he comes again in the clouds of glory.
In Daniel 2:44 he tells us, “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
In Ephesians 2:21 he tells us, “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
God could not be glorified in the church throughout all ages, is the church did not exist throughout all ages.
In Matthew 16:18, the Lord told Peter, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
There is no need to multiply proof texts; God has promised that his church will stand throughout all ages; and he has always been faithful to his promise. God will always have a church in the world.
We said it before, people are much easier to control when they are cold and sick and hungry, and there can be no doubt those men would like to see Americans cold and sick and starving. Why else are they so determined to bankrupt the country with their outrageous spending. Why else have they put us so deeply in debt to Communist China.
There is no way to know how many of our elected representatives in Washington are up to no good, and how many are simply are up for election. But there is one question that is clear beyond all doubt, and that is that very few of them have the foggiest idea of what is going on.
One of the clearest proofs that very few of them know what is going on is the fact that it has become a truism in Washington that, “We are piling up a huge debt for our children and grandchildren to pay.” Virtually all of them say it, and nobody contradicts it.
But is it not true? No, it is not true, regardless of how obvious it may appear to be.
It is true that the previous generation did that to us; and the generation before them did the same thing. But to say that we are leaving a debt for our children and grandchildren to pay assumes that it is possible for the debt to be paid.
Our elected officials in Washington are piling up a debt that cannot be paid, not by our children, not by our grandchildren, not by anybody.
The trillions of dollars of debt we are incurring will never be paid. We are not leaving them unmanageable debt—we are leaving them a bankrupt country. At some point we can no longer pay the interest on the debt; nobody will lend us money; and the funny money the Fed prints will lose its purchasing power faster than we can spend it. That is what these many antichrists have planned for us. They intend to bankrupt the country. They intend to see to it that we are cold, and hungry and sick. They are sure they can better control us if they can have us flat on our backs.
But will it work? No, it will not work. They will cause us untold misery, misery such as we cannot imagine, and we certainly cannot describe. But it will not work. It has been tried before; it did not work then, and it will not work the next time.
The Lord has a church in the world; he will have a church in the world when he comes again, and they will still be preaching essentially what the true church is preaching today.
It looked like the world was coming to an end when the Roman Empire fell apart, but the church survived the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire was the wonder of the world; it lasted for hundreds of years. It has been gone for over fifteen hundred years, but we still study their government, their laws, their military, their institutions. We are still amazed at all they accomplished. Our law students still study their legal system. Powerful as it was, the Roman Empire finally fell apart—but the truth lives on—the Lord’s church lives on. Our old Anabaptist brother was right—truth is indestructible.
Our infrastructure in America is falling apart. Our cities are alarmed that their sewers and their water pipes are falling apart, and they have no idea how they are going to pay for the necessary repairs. After two thousand years some of the old terra cotta water pipes the Romans installed are still working. They built aquaducts which are still working. They built roads that tied their empire together. True, their main concern in building those roads was to make it easy to move troops from one place to another to quell any insurrection that might arise; but the fact is that they served their purpose—and then the Roman Empire fell apart.
The people abandoned the cities. They had to raise what they ate; and you cannot do that if you are living in an apartment in the city. The highways were abandoned; there was no reason to go anywhere. People dug up the cobblestones in the highways to build houses. Commerce came to an end. Money went out of circulation. They gravitated to self-sufficient manor farms. The population was reduced to virtual slavery on those farms. Feudalism was not slavery; and the serfs were not slaves—not quite. But it would have been hard to tell the difference. There was nowhere to flee to. The only thing on the other side of the forest was more manor farms—and more misery.
But the church survived the fall of the Roman Empire. Truth is indestructible.
When the Empire fell apart the nearest thing to a government that was left was the Roman Catholic hierarchy. The Bishop of Rome declared himself God’s vicar on earth. He was sure God turned the government of the world over to him. For fully a thousand years, during what we call the Dark Ages, the Roman Catholic Church held the continent of Europe in its grip. They forbade any worship other than their own. They pursued, and tortured and killed Christians by the millions—and still the church survived.
Satan cannot destroy the Lord’s church. You would think that given almost total power, and a thousand years to do their work, the Roman Catholic authorities could have tracked down the Lord’s people and done away with them. But throughout that entire thousand years, there were little Baptist (Anabaptist) churches scattered all over Europe and England—and they worshiped God in essentially the same way, and preached essentially the same doctrines we are preaching today.
God has promised to preserve his church and he will do it. We have no idea what misery we are going to go through; but we can be sure the Lord is going to bring us through it.
We might spend some time looking at what our people believed during the thousand years of the Dark Ages, and it can be demonstrated that their doctrine was essentially what the ministry preaches today. But it is not so much our purpose in this particular article to look at what our people believed during that time, as it is to look at what God’s people believed long before that.
SURVIVING THE AGE
OF THE DINOSAURS
The original title for this booklet was Bible Truth in the Day of the Dinosaurs, and we might have done well to have left it at that. During the remainder of our time we will look at what the Lord’s people believed in that long ago time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I believe we can show that truth has survived since that time. We will look at what they believed, when they had to be careful to stay out of the way of Tyrannosaurus Rex and fire breathing dinosaurs.
The Bible gives us ample information as to what the Lord’s people believed in that day, and you may be surprised to discover that many of the texts our preachers use today were written at a time when dinosaurs were a danger.
If we can show by the Bible that our people survived— and that truth survived—the time of Tyrannosaurus Rex and his kind. And if we can show that the Lord’s people in that day had light on many of the same subjects we rejoice in today—it should give us some encouragement that we will survive all our present day adversaries can throw at us.
The book of Job gives ample proof that it was written at that time. Job knew about the dinosaurs; he knew about the Ice Age; and he knew about cave men. There never was any such thing as an ape man, somebody who was half ape and half man; but there were cave men, people who lived in caves, in Job’s day, and in chapter thirty of his book, he talked about them.
The book of Job gives some insight into the climate at that time. Those who study such things talk about something they call the Ice Age. Geology clearly indicates there was an Ice Age. Huge rocks deposited in the middle of broad plains were clearly left when the glaciers carrying them along melted. Why else would you find huge boulders far out in the middle of level ground. Long scars were produced when glaciers dragged rocks across other rocks; that is another evidence of an Ice Age. There is no evidence there were several ice ages, but there is an abundance of evidence there was one.
That was probably when Job lived. People talk about what is on their mind, and the book of Job has more to say about snow and frost and ice and cold than any other book. They were cold and they talked about it.
Job mentions that in his day the surface of the ocean was frozen:
Job 38:30,31, “Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.”
“Out of whose womb came the ice?” That is a poetic expression for a slow moving glacier.
“The waters are hid as with a stone?” When are the waters “hid as with a stone?” when they are frozen.
He goes on to say “the face of the deep is frozen.” The deep is a poetic expression referring to the ocean. In Job’s day “the face of the deep,” the surface of the ocean, was frozen. Perhaps that is not enough to prove that Job lived during the Ice Age, but it convinces me.
Our educational system tells us, and especially they teach our children about what man was like in a period they call prehistory. They like to talk about prehistoric man. Well, if it was prehistoric, I wonder how they know so much about it. But, anyway, I would like for us notice the Bible record of how things were then, and what people believed religiously, in what our educators call prehistory. We will look at what commerce was like, and what civilization was like. The Bible gives us a good record.
Job 1:1-3, “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God and eschewed evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and three hundred she asses and a very great household, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East. “
Job was a rich man. We are told that he “was the greatest of all the men of the East,” and “his substance was seven thousand sheep.” He could not tend seven thousand sheep all by himself. Can you imagine how many people he had working for him to see after seven thousand sheep?
Job was at the center of a highly commercialized economy. He had “three thousand camels.” I don’t imagine he had all those camels for pets. Throughout history camels have been used to move freight. Can you imagine how much commerce there was in that day, that he needed seven thousand camels. With one man owning that many camels, it is obvious that commerce was more highly developed than our educators are willing to admit.
The point is that there was a highly developed commercial system in place in Job’s day.
They must have had a well developed monetary system. I have read long articles about the development of money, and how gold only began to be used as a unit of exchange about three thousand years ago. The Bible teaches it very differently. When Abraham bought a burying place for Sarah, he paid four hundred shekels of silver. They had a metal based (a silver and gold based) economy.
Nowadays, our elected representatives in Washington allow the Federal Reserve to print funny little scraps of paper and tell us it’s money. We pretend those scraps of paper are money, and as long as the people we give them to are willing to keep up the pretense they serve the purpose of money. Some day people will figure out that paper is paper, and gold and silver are money. I am afraid they are going to figure that out before long.
Evolutionists love to talk in terms of millions and billions of years. They do that to cast doubt on the Bible. They know that the Bible indicates the earth is much younger than that. They talk about how the dinosaurs died out sixty-five million years ago, and that would put them millions of years before Adam and the Garden of Eden.
But the Bible makes it clear enough that, in the early days of the earth, dinosaurs and men lived at the same time and in the same areas—and it makes it just as clear that in the days of the dinosaurs, God’s people believed much the same as we believe today.
If Bible truth survived the dinosaurs, and if it survived the virtual collapse of Western Civilization when the Roman Empire fell, and if it survived one thousand years of persecution by the Papacy, it can survive anything. Truly, in the words of our old Anabaptist brother—truth is indestructible.
But let us look first at the Bible record of the dinosaurs, and then we will look at what God’s people believed in the day when they were still around.
The Bible makes it clear enough there were dinosaurs around in Job’s day. Let me read you very quickly about one of them. Job says:
Job 40:15-17,“Behold now Behemoth, which I made with thee. He eateth grass as an ox. Lo now his strength is in his loins; and his force in the navel of his belly. He moveth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.”
The center column reference in my Bible tells me that is an elephant. I never saw a dinosaur; but I have seen elephants. And an elephant’s tail looks more like a rope than it does a cedar. But whatever this thing was, it had a tail like a cedar tree.
In verse twenty three, “Behold he drinketh up a river and hasteth not; he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan in his mouth.”
This thing was so big, he thought he could drink the Jordan river dry. This is a big thing we are reading about.
In the next chapter he talks about another species of dinosaur. People called them dragons until 1841. That was when Richard Owen, an English scientist, started calling them dinosaurs. People had been finding their fossils for years, and they called them dragons. Evolutionists tell us there never was any such thing as dragons, but there used to be dinosaurs, as if changing their name changed anything.
Job 41:1, “Canst thou draw out Leviathan with an hook, or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons or his head with fish spears?”
Again, in verse ten he says, “None is so fierce that dare stir him up.”
It sounds for all the world like Job is writing from first hand experience and describing a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He wants to know who is so fierce as to “dare to stir him up?”
Job says that if he came up on a T Rex, and he was sleeping, he wouldn’t bother him. I think that was a mighty good decision. He goes on to talk about this thing. He says:
Verses 14, 18-21“Who can open the doors of his face; his teeth are terrible round about,” verse 14. He says, “His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal…. By his neesings a light doth shine. And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning lamps. And sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke as out of a seething pot or cauldron, His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.”
Have you read about fire breathing dragons? Job knew about them firsthand. How could any animal breathe fire? There are all kinds of things in nature that defy logic, and fire-breathing dragons are less mystifying than a lot of things we could talk about.
There is a little beatle that demonstrates how it could happen. It is called a bombardier beetle. I never saw one, but I have read a lot about them. It has two tiny chambers in his abdomen. There are different chemicals in each chamber, and if something gets after that little beetle, he empties those two chambers into a third container, and those two chemicals come together and instantly come to a boiling point. Then he sprays that concoction in the face of whatever is after him, and his tormenter leaves him along.
Paleontologists have discovered at least one dinosaur that has exactly the same kind of plumbing in his head as that little beetle has in his abdomen.
Nobody knows what was in the two chambers in the head of that dinosaur, or what happened if they came together. Nobody can prove they did not burst into flame when they were exposed to the air.
I remember when I was a boy, I had bought some chemicals and I was playing with them. I thought I wanted to be a chemist. I sure missed out on that. I learned it was not a good idea to set those some chemicals anywhere near each other. It is a wonder I did not burn the house down. I am not sure why anybody should have trouble imagining there are two chemicals that will burst into flame when they are mixed and exposed to the air.
Who can question whether God could enable dinosaurs to produce chemicals that would burst into flame if they happened to be mixed together.
Job said they could breathe fire. He saw it in action. The dinosaurs did not die out sixty five million years ago. They were still around when Job was here.
BIBLE TRUTH
IN THE TIME OF THE DINOSAURS
I said all of that to get to this. I want us to look at what people believed in that day. What did God’s people believe in Job’s day. What did they believe in the day of the dinosaurs. What did they believe during the Ice Age. We will give just a few examples, but they should be sufficient.
First, they believed in redemption.
Ch. 23:34, “Then he is gracious unto him and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.”
Again, ch. 19:25, “I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.”
Job knew he had a redeemer, and he knew that redeemer was going to stand on the earth in the latter day.
Second, Job believed judgment was coming, and without a redeemer the wicked will be punished— that if God did not provide a ransom, we were all “going down to the pit.” But he was convinced that he had a redeemer, and he was convinced that redeemer was going to pay the ransom.
Third, in the days of the dinosaurs, God’s people believed the name of their redeemer is Jesus.
Ch. 13:15,16 “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him; but I will maintain my own ways before him. He also shall be my salvation.”
You can look up that word salvation in your Strong’s Concordance. It’s easy enough. Look up the verse in the concordance. Look to the right of the column and you will see the number 3444. Go to page 53 of the Hebrew-Chaldee Dictionary and look at entry number 3444. The word that is translated salvation is the Hebrew word Jeshua The word is Jeshua in the Hebrew; and Jesus in the Greek. The expression literally translates, “He also shall be my Jesus.” In either language the word means Savior or Deliverer, and it is the proper name of our Lord.
Matt. 1:21, “And thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
I sit here and the goosebumps run all over me, realizing that in the very time of the dinosaurs, God’s people knew we have a redeemer, and they knew his name is Jesus. If that is not exactly what we believe four thousand years later, I confess that I have been deceived. But we have not been deceived. Job was right; we do have a Redeemer— and his name is Jesus.
One more text and we are done. In that long ago day, God’s people expected the Lord to raise them from the dead.
Ch.14:13-15, “O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me in secret until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time and remember me If a man die shall he live again. All the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change come. Thou shalt call and I will answer thee; thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.”
This is what they preached in the time of Tyrannosaurus Rex. This is what they believed when brontosaurus, and brachysaurus, and diplodycus, and all the other dinosaurs were wandering the earth. God’s people believed they had a Redeemer. They believed he would stand on the earth at the latter day. They believed he would pay the ransom price. They believed his name was Jesus. And they believed he is coming back to call us out of the grave.
If God’s people survived Tyrannosaurus Rex, if they survived the virtual disintegration of Western Civilization in the fall of the Roman Empire; if they survived one thousand years of persecution during the Dark Age; and if they have survived every great catastrophe before and since that time, we can be sure his church, and the truth they stand for, will survive the chaos we see developing all around us.
God has a people in this world. And regardless of what may come our way, he is going to have a people here in this world when he comes again in the clouds of glory. When he declares that time shall be no more, there will be somebody somewhere meeting in much the same way we meet today, and preaching the same doctrines we are preaching today.

John called them antichrists (1 John 2:18). He told us there were many of them in his day.
That was true then, and it has been true ever since.
The Bible never once uses the expression the antichrist. The word antichrist often appears in the books of First and Second John, but it is always many antichrists, or an antichrist, or the spirit of antichrist. It is never the antichrist. It never talks about a single antichrist.
The Fed produces both inflation and depressions by manipulating the money supply.
Dinosaurs and their fossils are favorite subjects with the evolutionists. Any time you tell somebody you don’t believe in evolution, they want to know, “Do you mean you don’t believe in dinosaurs?” Of course I believe in dinosaurs; but what do dinosaurs have to do with evolution.
They tell us the dinosaurs are all dead. Somebody says, “Brother Hunt, the dinosaurs all died out sixty five million years ago. But are the dinosaurs all dead, even now. By definition, a dinosaur is a terrible lizard. If a dinosaur is a terrible lizard, I would like to know what an crocodile is. I would like to know what is a alligator. What is a Komodo Dragon?
We are told those are not dinosaurs, because the dinosaurs were all great big things.” Well, even paleontologists will tell you that some dinosaurs were very small. They tell us type of dinosaur, the mussaurus, was about the size of a chicken. An alligator is a lot bigger than a chicken and alligators are still around.
Of course they know that alligators and crocodiles, and Gila Monsters, cannot be dinosaurs, because everybody knows the dinosaurs are all dead, and those creatures are still around they could not be dinosaurs.
If we should grant them their objection that the dinosaurs are all dead, we would ask them to explain the description Job gives of dinosaurs that lived in his day. Job describes two different kinds of dinosaurs.
These antichrists have ruined our monetary system. That makes us more vulnerable to their assault.
First, we need to establish when Job lived and when his book was written. The Bible gives us all the information we need. The book of Job was clearly written some time after Abraham’s day, and some time before God gave the Law to Israel by Moses.
After the Flood the only eight people left alive were Noah and his wife, his three sons and their wives. God commanded them to, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Gen. 9:1). They spread out over the vast empty spaces of the earth, and their offspring did, indeed, replenish the earth.” Their descendants became great nations and filled the land. More than that, David said, “They call their lands after their own names” (Psa. 49:11). The names of the various lands were usually the names of the ancestors of the people who lived in the various lands.
Job lived “in the land of Uz” (ch. 1:1), and one of his friends was “Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite” (ch. 32:2). These Uzites and Buzites were descendants of Uz and Buz. Those two brothers, Uz and Buz, were the sons of Abraham’s brother, Nahor (Gen. 22:20,21). The lands of Uz and Buz were likely named after two of Abraham’s nephews. So Job lived sometime after Abraham’s day.
Before the Flood men lived to be very old; many of them lived to be close to a thousand years old (Gen. 5). After the Flood their life spans dropped with each generation (Gen. 11:11-32). Job’s life span was about the same as Jacob’s and about the same as Moses’ father and uncles. With life spans steadily dropping with each generation, and with Job living about as long as Jacob and Moses’ uncles, it makes me think he probably lived about the time of Jacob.
I believe it was written some time before Moses’ day. Job and his friends were very well informed people, and for days on end they discussed ethical, moral, and religious principles, and they never once quoted Moses. As well informed as those men were, if the Law of Moses had existed, they would have quoted Moses. They did not. That is hard to explain unless Job lived before Moses’ day.
Most of the Christian people I know are alarmed at the conduct of our president. Even more are disgusted with the Congress—and with good cause.
I am often asked, “Brother Hunt, do you believe Barak Obama is the antichrist?” No, I don’t. Do I believe Barak Obama is one of those many antichrists? Absolutely. Do I believe he would like to be the antichrist, if there ever is such an individual? Of course he would. He has left little doubt he would like to have the job.
Since he became president, Barak Obama has been going from country to country, proclaiming that, “America is no longer a Christian nation.” By that I understand him to mean that to the best of his ability he intends to see it to that America is no longer a Christian nation.
On the other hand, he made a speech in Cairo, Egypt in which he kept referring to the Koran as the Holy Koran, and how it was revealed to Mohammed. He is sure the Koran is holy, but he shows no such regard for the Bible. If the Koran truly is holy, and if it was revealed to Mohammed, and not simply conjured up by him and his followers, then Obama is right, and Islam is the one true religion after all. But he is not right, Islam is not the one true religion, and they will never destroy the Lord’s church, not with Obama’s help or without it.
For twenty years before his election, he attended a Protestant church in Chicago. It was good for his political career. But since his election he has given little reason to doubt his hostility to the Christian religion. He was recently invited to give a speech at a major university, but he refused to give the speech unless a cross on the wall behind him was covered up. He can refer to the Koran as being holy, and he can refer to its contents as being revealed to Mohammed, but he bristles at the thought of giving a speech with a cross nearby.
But you can be sure that if the position of antichrist should ever become available, Mr. Obama would have plenty of competition from men like George Soros, Hank Paulson, Ben Bernanke, and the like.
You should never get the idea we are talking about a Democrat/Republican problem. One party could never have gotten us in the mess we are in. The Republicans have howled over Obamacare—but they stood by without a whimper while Obama put two of the most radical justices in recent memory on the Supreme Court. Obamacare can be repealed—it is virtually impossible to remove a Supreme Court Justice. And the Republicans let it happen without making an effort to stop it.
We should vote our convictions, but we should not be taken by their little good cop/bad cop routine. If you think our problems are going to be solved at the ballot box, you have your confidence in the wrong place. We vote out the bad guys and vote in the good guys— and then the good guys turn out to be bad buys. If this nation is delivered from the antichristian forces that are tormenting us, it will be God that delivers us.
Warren Buffett was the richest man in the world until he gave eighty five percent of his wealth to the Gates Foundation, and Bill Gates is using that wealth, and much of his own money, to promote left-leaning, antichristian causes.
Warren Buffett is proud of his philanthropy. He has been quoted as saying, “There are other ways to get to heaven, but this is a fun way to do it.” He is mistaken on several counts.
In 1992, George Soros made a billion dollars (that is a billion with a b) almost overnight with his currency manipulation. He is still referred to as “the man who broke the Bank of England.” He uses his billions to finance the most diabolical antichristian schemes.
