What gave rise to this statement was the young man going to the Saviour and saying unto Him, “What good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” The man expected to go to heaven by his good works. He claimed that he had kept the law; but the Saviour tried Him on that platform and showed that he had not kept it. No one can get eternal life by doing good works, or by keeping the law. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a man to be saved that way. Hence, it is utterly impossible for one to be saved in heaven by doing good works. It is utterly impossible, therefore, for the Arminian doctrine to be true. The Primitive Baptist, November 17, 1914.
