JONAH 3 vss 4-11 Cayce

JONAH 3:4-11, C. H. Cayce We do not understand that God repents as a man repents. In Mal. 3:6 the Lord says, “I change not.” In another place it is said that the Lord “is not man, that He should repent.” The people of Nineveh repented at the preaching of Jonah. They turned away from their wickedness, and lived as God had commanded and required. As they did this, the Lord did not visit them with chastisement and destruction. This was according to His law and promise, as is clearly shown in Ezek. 18:25-28, “Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Because he considereth and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.” The Lord’s dealing with Nineveh was in perfect harmony with this law and promise which He had made. He did not repent, or change, as man repents, but was faithful to fulfill His promise and maintain His law. The Primitive Baptist, July 4, 1911
